About the Evaluator
Darrell M. Hull, Ph.D., is Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of North Texas, where he directs the doctoral concentration in Research Methodology, Measurement, and Statistics and serves as Director of the Office of Research Consulting. He has more than 25 years of experience evaluating federally funded education and workforce development initiatives, including multiple projects supported by the National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program. Dr. Hull has served as both an ATE principal investigator and external evaluator, including work with a National Center in Optics and Photonics Technology. Prior to academia, he earned an A.A.S. in Laser-Electro-Optics Technology and worked as an industry technician. A Fulbright Scholar, he specializes in mixed-methods evaluation, assessment, and program improvement and has led large-scale evaluations that have informed educational policy and practice in the United States and internationally.

Outside of Work, I enjoy...
…competitive cycling, and spending time with my wife, daughters, and grandkids. I have competed in some of the largest competitive road cycling races in the United States and internationally. I love going for a bike ride.

…involves the evaluator from the outset, engages the PIs and other project staff in the process of evaluation, and provides them the opportunity to be an integral part of the evaluation, including the reporting.

…is inclusive and hands-on. I try to adhere to the CIPP model in my evaluative work that addresses the Contexts you are working in, examines all the Inputs to the project, explicates the Processes implemented, and preparing rigorous empirical papers showing the Products or outcomes of your project.
